Sikkens Cetol Novatech is a low solvent woodstain which can be used as a base stain on joinery and a finish on non-joinery items. It’s a highly translucent, semi-gloss finish that brings out the beauty of the natural woodgrain. The high solid formulation saves time and money, by giving a thicker protective film with fewer coats.

Tinted Colour Information
Tinted paint is custom mixed in house at Next Day Paint using our Sikkens tinting machine. We mix the paint on site, which means we can offer our usual fast delivery with no extra delay. Tinted Colour Match paints can't be cancelled or returned as they are tinted to order.Area | Exterior |

Preparation
Always ensure the surface to be treated is clean, dry and free from any dust, algae, fungi or moss.
- Resinous deposits should be removed with a scraper.
- Degrease the surface with a lint free cloth and suitable solvent, allow to evaporate fully before applying Sikkens.
- For previously stained or worn wood use a fine sandpaper of 240 grit work in the direction of to abrade the surface the grain.
- Dust down entire surface.
- Fill any cracks, holes or chips, always use a filler designed for timber.
Application
Before applying stir the product thoroughly and test a small area to ensure colour and adhesion. Colours can vary dependant on surface to be treated.
- Do not apply when there is the risk of rain or when temperatures are below 5°C or above 30°C.
- Protect from frost and rain until dry.
- Always ensure product is fully mixed before and during application to ensure consistency in colour.
- Do not thin.
- For best results use a good quality, long-haired, soft bristle brush.
- For new wood were possible apply Novatech all round prior to fixing.
- Apply along the grain in even strokes and avoid over brushing to produce an even overall colour.
- Pay special attention to areas of exposed grain, tops and bottoms of doors and undersides of cills.
- Excess surface material may be re-distributed after 5-20minutes (depending on conditions).
- Allow a minimum of 12-24 hours drying time.
- Where appropriate (e.g. for joinery items such as windows and doors), the first coat should be carefully denibbed using a fine grade nylon abrasive pad or a fine grade (P240 or finer) wet or dry silicon carbide abrasive paper, in the direction of the grain.
- Do not break through the surface coating.
- The second coat should be applied to all exposed surfaces, as soon as possible after the first coat has dried, but no sooner than 16 hours.
- Remove all dust, subsequent coatings should be applied as soon as possible after the previous coat has dried.
- Additional preparation may be required if over 3 months between coats.
- For Joinery items apply a top coat of Sikkens Cetol Novatop.
